Hygienist

Here at Clinic 334 we have an excellent team of Dental Hygienists and Therapists with a focused and proactive approach to disease prevention and management. Our motivated and highly experienced team work hard to continue to develop their knowledge with continual professional development, routinely attending courses and expanding their skills further.

During your appointment a thorough assessment of your oral health will be carried out which shall include a Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE) and any bleeding from the gums recorded. This will be discussed with you in detail along with any findings regarding the health of your gums and any gum disease found. Following this individual assessment, we design an oral care plan tailored specifically to your needs which will be explained in detail to you. Most patients have never been shown how to care for their mouths and clean properly, so this patient education is a very important part of our appointments.

Looking after your mouth is not just important to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease (gum disease) but a healthy mouth leads to a healthy body. The links between periodontal disease and health problems in other parts of your body are becoming more understood, with strong links to diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s amongst other conditions. The important thing about gum disease is that it can be prevented and responds well to treatment in the early stages.

A visit to the Dental Hygienist is more than just a scale & polish with more advanced equipment and treatments available. At Clinic 334 alongside our ultrasonic scalers we use Airflow polishing which uses a fine jet of compressed air, water and fine powder particles to give your teeth that ultimate clean and is effective in removing stain that has built up from tea, red wine and mouthwashes. Air polishing removes plaque and stain faster and is much less abrasive than traditional polishing methods. Air polishing is also very effective for use around implants.

We offer a range of treatment and advise from those who require simple stain removal and guidance to patients with more complex needs who require intense supportive periodontal therapy. We are here to support you whatever your requirement. This includes patients who may be attending the surgery for implants, we are able to help you throughout your journey and offer support and advice and you can continue to see us for Supportive implant Therapy following the completion of your implant treatment.

Finally, our Hygienists offer their treatment by ‘Direct Access’. This is where patients have the option to see a Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist directly for treatment without the prescription of a dentist being required. Treatments that they are trained and competent to do can be carried out except for tooth whitening, so whether your new to Clinic 334 or have attended the practice and would like to recommend us to your family or friends, we would be glad to help you care for your mouth effectively.

It is important for patients to be aware of their expected charges. Patients should contact reception should they need treatment fee clarification prior to any upcoming appointments. The structure below may help as a guide.
