Oral Surgery & IV Sedation
Oral Surgery refers to a wide range of treatments from simple tooth extraction to removal of impacted wisdom teeth to more complex jaw abnormalities. Although a lot of oral surgery procedures can often be completed at your own dentist occasionally a referral is needed for a more experienced surgeon to complete your treatment. Here at Clinic 334 our team will be able to talk you through all aspects of your treatment to provide you with the reassurances required prior to surgery.
Treatment will often be completed under Intravenous (IV) Sedation allowing you to avoid the need to be placed on a waiting list or attend a hospital. You will remain conscious throughout your treatment and will be able to converse with our team but will be very relaxed and often will not remember much, if anything, about your appointment. Regular reviews can be arranged throughout the healing phase to ensure that all is progressing well. IV Sedation is not limited to Oral Surgery and can be provided for other aspects of your care here at Clinic 334.
Common Oral Surgery Procedures:
– Simple Extractions for nervous patients
– Complex Surgical Extractions
– Removal of fractured roots
– Wisdom Tooth Removal
– Extractions prior to implant placement
– Exposure of Impacted Teeth for Orthodontics
– Surgical Endodontics (Apicectomy)
– Removal/Biopsy of Soft Tissue Lesions
Inhalation sedation – a great way to reduce anxiety in nervous patients
Children often feel worried or frightened when visiting the dentist and receiving treatment. We find that one of the best and safest ways to lessen their fear is to carry out dental treatment under ‘inhalation sedation’, which is often referred to as ‘happy air’ or ‘laughing gas’.
Inhalation sedation at Clinic 334 is provided by a highly skilled team that includes sedation-trained children’s dentists and nurses. So, parents can rest assured that their children will receive the highest level of care with us.
The Wand
At Clinic 334, we want your child’s experience of their dental treatment to be as comfortable as possible, which is why we are proud to use The Wand as our local anaesthetic for children.
The Wand is ideal for treating children. It is a pain-free alternative to the traditional dental injection and it is a computerised system that delivers precise local anaesthetic without the pain and anxiety of a dental needle or discomfort associated with the effects of extensive numbing.
Traditionally, local anaesthetic is administered with a needle and numbs the entire side of the face – which not only makes it difficult to speak and eat after treatment, but it can cause post-operative trauma too, as children can’t feel if they’re biting their lips or cheeks. The Wand is changing all that, using a computerised, sensor-controlled probe that numbs only the tooth being treated. This is known as STA, or Single Tooth Anaesthesia.
Initial consultation fee will be £195, including initial “x-rays”/radiographs leading to a written report. Treatment fees vary greatly depending on the case.
